Hospice & Palliative Medicine
Hospice programs provide palliative care to terminally ill
patients and supportive services to their families and significant
others, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in both home and
facility-based settings.Palliative medicine is the study
and management of patients with active, progressive, and
sometimes far-advanced disease for whom the prognosis is
limited and the focus of care is the quality of life. This specialty
is not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
